Locally grown musician and artist attempts a deeper interaction with her surroundings, she works through ideas of heterotopias, personal bubbles vs societal bubbles, questions of tradition and humanist expressions and those of the seemingly inanimate things that work on a parallel timeline. The artist uses a method of making a series of recordings using contact mics and then using cymatics to display those recordings in an attempt to expose the unknown nature of a building.

Peripatetic, as the word suggests, refers to the itinerant nature of my existence thus far. This paper is a reflection on this journey and the ways in which I establish a sense of place wherever I go. Through a mixture of research and personal experience I highlight contributing factors to the development of a sense of place for an individual. Through my miniatures and storytelling practice I reproduce real places and invite the viewer into an experiential journey. The paper researches the significance of our senses and their contribution in this experiential journey. Finally, In the culminating thesis project titled Pilu And The Banyan Tree I explore the sense of place by adding a new factor in the place building process: fictional storytelling.

This thesis intends to explore the relationship between music and making by examining the intersections of music, performance, kata, and visual languages, while pushing the boundary between them. The objective is not only to explore the relationship between different media, but to change the way an audience perceives a single element by uniting different subjects. Enhancing the impact of each media by providing different sensations. Combining seemly unrelated fields to create a new meaning. This work embodies karate spirit and creates a new meaning by utilizing multimedia.
